Woman Dies After Bicycle Collision on Calgary Pathway
A woman in her 50s has died after being struck by a 12-year-old cyclist while walking on a Calgary pathway.
Calgary Police Service (CPS) says the incident happened on Saturday, Aug. 2, just before 4 p.m., north of Hidden Valley Drive. The woman was walking with her husband when the child on a bike collided with her from behind.
The impact caused her to fall and suffer serious injuries. She was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and later died.
Police were not called to the scene at the time but have since opened an investigation. Officers say speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash.
