Fall Has Arrived in Calgary — And So Has the Weather Roller Coaster

Alberta officially stepped into fall this week, and Calgary is getting the full seasonal experience: warm afternoons, chilly nights, and those classic temperature swings we all know too well.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), today’s forecast has Calgary peaking at 27°C before things cool off quickly — tomorrow’s high drops to 17°C, with overnight lows hitting just 5°C by Wednesday night.

The rest of the week? Expect the numbers to bounce around. Thursday should reach 25°C, dip to 19°C on Friday, and then climb right back to 25°C for Saturday. That’s a 22-degree swing between today’s high and tomorrow’s overnight low — Calgary weather showing off again.

The good news? Temperatures are still running warmer than usual. Sunday and Monday are both expected to hit 23°C, while the seasonal average for mid-September in Calgary sits at 16°C for daytime highs and 2°C for lows. So yes, it’s a roller coaster — but at least it’s a warmer one.

As you juggle hot afternoons and cool evenings in your wardrobe planning, don’t forget to start mapping out your fall fun. From pumpkin patches to haunted houses, Alberta has plenty of autumn and Halloween events worth penciling into your calendar. It’s never too early to plan ahead! 🎃🍂
