Calgary forecast is COLD with a 28-degree temperature swing soon

by Peter Eki

Calgarians, get ready — the Thanksgiving long weekend is almost here, and so is a big drop in temperatures. πŸ‚

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Calgary’s weather is looking lovely (and above average) for today, October 7, but the warmth won’t stick around for long.

Today’s forecast calls for sunshine and a high of 23°C, with a cool overnight low of 4°C. By midweek, things start to slide — Wednesday and Thursday will see cooler temps before a slight rebound on Friday, when we’ll hit around 16°C.

But once the weekend arrives, brace yourself. The Thanksgiving forecast looks chilly and cloudy, with Sunday expected to reach just 2°C during the day and dip to -5°C overnight. There’s even a 40% chance of flurries or rain showers — a true Calgary twist for Thanksgiving weekend!

That’s a 28-degree swing between today’s high and Sunday’s low. If that doesn’t say “fall in Calgary,” nothing does. It might be time to start booking that winter tire change early!

For context, ECCC says the average high around this time of year is 14°C, while the average low sits around 0°C — so this weekend’s chill is definitely below normal.

And while you’re cozying up indoors (or maybe braving the cold), don’t miss our roundups of fun fall and Halloween events in Alberta or budget-friendly things to do in Calgary for $30 or less. After all, it’s spooky season — chilly weather and all! πŸ‘»πŸŽƒ
