Bigger child tax payments hit Canadian familiesβ bank accounts early

πΈ Parents, check your accounts — CCB payments are arriving early this month!
The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) usually drops on the 20th, but since that falls on a weekend, payments will hit accounts Friday, July 18 instead. π
This isn’t just a date change — the amount is going up too. July marks the start of the new benefit year, meaning updated payment amounts.
π This year, families will see a 2.7% increase to help with rising living costs:
-
Kids under 6: now up to $7,997/year or $666.41/month
-
Ages 6 to 17: now $6,748/year or $562.33/month
π§ And for families receiving the Child Disability Benefit (CDB), that’s going up too — from $3,322 to $3,411 yearly.
Why the bump? It’s part of Ottawa’s annual indexation process, adjusting payments to keep up with inflation. Last year’s increase was 4.7%, so this year’s is a little smaller — but still helpful.
π Reminder: If you haven’t filed your 2024 taxes, your payment will be on hold until that’s sorted. And if your deposit doesn’t arrive Friday, wait 5 business days before contacting CRA.
