Calgary leaps over Edmonton in ranking of happiest Canadian cities

π Happiest Cities in Canada? Calgary Beats Edmonton — Barely.
The friendly rivalry between Calgary and Edmonton just added another win for Cowtown — this time in overall happiness.
The 2025 Leger Happiness Index surveyed over 39,000 Canadians and found the national happiness average is 68.7/100.
π Mississauga tops the list at 70.3, followed by Montreal (69.4) and Hamilton (67.5).
πΉ Calgary came in 4th with a score of 67.4
πΉ Edmonton landed 7th with 66.3
Close… but we’ll take the W! π
πΊοΈ Happiest provinces?
-
Quebec leads with 72.4
-
Alberta sits at #6 with 68.0
-
Surprisingly, Ontario ranks only 8th despite having many of the top cities.
π¬ And on a global scale? Canada dropped from the 6th happiest country (2013) to 18th (2025). Plus, 28% of Canadians said they feel less happy than last year.
Bottom line? We’re still smiling… but maybe a little more coffee, sunshine, and Stampede spirit wouldn’t hurt. βοΈπ¨π¦
