Bao Tran from Edmonton, Alberta, thought he had scored a sweet $100,000 in a recent Lotto 6/49 draw this spring. He was already thrilled — until a friend took a closer look at his ticket and delivered the plot twist of the year:

“I scanned the ticket in the store,” Tran told the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC). “I told my friend I’d won $100,000… when he looked closely, he said, ‘No, this is $1 million!’”
