⛈️ Alberta Weekend Forecast: Hail, Heavy Rain & Tornado Risk? Yep.

Alberta’s gearing up for a stormy weekend, with much of the province facing the threat of severe thunderstorms — and some areas even at risk for huge hail and a tornado.

🌩️ On Friday, July 18, a moderate risk zone includes major areas like Calgary, Red Deer, and Edson, with:

  • Wind gusts up to 90 km/h

  • Hail up to 5 cm (hello, golf balls)

  • Rainfall between 20–50 mm

🌪️ A more intense pocket in southern Alberta could see:

  • Hail up to 6 cm (pool-ball size!)

  • Wind gusts near 110 km/h

  • Possible tornado activity

⚠️ Minor risk zones stretch across western and northern Alberta, including Waterton, Banff, Jasper, Edmonton, and Grande Prairie — with lighter hail (up to 2 cm), 70 km/h gusts, and up to 25 mm of rain.

🌧️ Tonight, storms will taper off, leaving central and southern Alberta with a smaller risk of wind and showers.

Looking ahead, Edmonton and Calgary both have a soggy seven-day outlook — not exactly the sunny start folks were hoping for at KDays. ☔
